Original publisher's brown wrapper with staple binding. 4 1/2" x 5 1/2." Fifty-four pages, complete. One additional page of an advertisement for the "Comptometer, The Rapid-Fire Adding Machine." Also included are lyrics to the songs, "The Star-Bangled Banner" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and a calendar for the years 1918-1919 on the verso of the title page. Faint handwritten lettering that says, "Chico Public Library," near the top edge of the front cover. "Chico Public Library" is also faintly stamped at the top of the title page. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Minuscule brown spots on front cover. Staples have minimal rusting not affect pages. A Fine copy. A phrase book with translations in English and French for American soldiers stationed abroad during World War I. The book contains a guide to pronunciation, "practical and simple French sentences and expressions for the soldiers to use" (with English translations), and a vocabulary list of common words in both English and French..
