Original publisher's black and white illustrated wrappers with staple binding. Light brown accent decoration and text on front cover. Front cover also shows a portrait photograph of Field-Marshal Sir John French. 8" x 12." Pages 161-200, complete. Black and white photographs and illustrations, complete. Advertisements on back cover and inside of back cover. Text at the bottom of the back cover: "Printed and Published by The Times Publishing Company, Limited, Printing House Square, London, E.C." Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Slight discoloration to the covers and slight edge wear. Fold line in lower-right corner of front cover and first leaf. Slight bump in lower-right corner for remainder of the magazine. A Very Good copy. The Times: History of the War, was a weekly subsidiary publication of The Times newspaper, which had been founded in 1785 as the Daily Universal Register. Its name was changed to "The Times" in 1788 and still operates to this day under the same title. This issue includes Chapters X-XIII under the titles, "The Rally of the Empire," "The War and Finance," "British Commerce, Shipping, and War Finance," and "German Finance," respectively. Some of the topics of Chapter X: "Opinion in Canada and Australia," "The King's Message to the Dominions," "Effect of Sir Edward Grey's Speech," "The Canadian and South African Press," "Loyalty of India," and "The King-Emperor's Message to India." Some of Chapter XI's topics: "Rise in London Open Market Discount Rate," "Heavy Borrowing from the Bank of England," "The Banks Lending Freely," "The Moratorium Act," "Collapse of Markets," and "Panic on the Continent." Some of Chapter XII's topics: "Agreement with the War Insurance Clubs," "German Mines and Neutral Shipping," "State Insurance Schemes in France, United States, and New Zealand," "Chartering of Norwegian Vessels," and "Financial Position in the United States." Some topics of Chapter XIII: "German Indebtedness," "Internal Structure of German Industry and Trade," "The Test of War," "Was Germany Self-Supporting?," "The German Banks," "The Morocco Crisis, 1911," and "A German Victory Essential." Chapters VII, VIII, and IX also feature many reprinted photographs and illustrations, some of which are full-page. Some of the depicted subjects in the photographs and illustrations include King George V, Sir Pertab Singh, the Majaraja of Mysore, "scene in front of the Royal Exchange," "scene in Throgmorton Street. The Stock Exchange closed," "royal proclamation of a moratorium read in the city," "scene in the city during the European crisis," "U.S.A. Cruiser Tennessee," and "Declaration of War in Berlin.".
