An exciting boxed set of book, medallions and first day covers marking the centenary of the death of Thomas Baines. The illustrated card box is neat, healthy, strong, sound. Within the items are housed in a tan padded portfolio. On the left, in a pocket, there is a FDC of the Rhodesian philatelic commemoration: one stamp, one cancellation: Bulawayo, Rhodesia -8 May 1975. The cover was especially produced for this collection by Books of Africa. Secondly there is a FDC from South Africa; four stamps, one cancellation: commemorative franking; unsealed with information card within. To the right - also in a pocket - are four gilt-bronze medallions charting Baines' life story in Africa. These are inlaid in a blue padded display panel. Also included is a blue booklet about Baines. This also certifies the set as being 953 of a limited edition of 1150. ISBN: 0949973092. The covers and contents are very smart and happy.
