Original pull-tab lottery card with an illustration by Gil Elvgren. No date, circa 1940s. 12" x 12." Complete, with all paper slips present. There are 100 pull-tabs total. Red, white, and blue color scheme with multicolored illustration. Illustration is titled, "Over Exposure," and shows a woman wearing only tights and heels as she puts on an undergarment and looks in the mirror. In addition to the title, "Elvgren" is printed on the illustration. The card is very clean and intact overall. Minimal age wear, a few spots with chipping, and a few marks and wrinkles. Gil Elvgren (1914-1980) was an American painter and illustrator known for making pin-up girls and commercial art in advertising. He graduated from the American Academy of Art and began painting pin-up calendars in 1937 for Louis F. Dow, one of the leading publishing companies in the United States at the time. Around 1944, Elvgren was hired by Brown & Bigelow, which still produces calendars and advertisements to this day. He was associated with Brown & Bigelow from 1945-1972 and was active until that decade in the 1970s.
