Original stereocard on beige board. Features two stereoscopic black-and-white photographs. 7" x 3 1/2." Stereocard is very clean and intact overall. Board is age-toned with some smudges, which are mostly limited to the back. Photographs are clean and intact except for light surface wear and a faint, tiny mark on the left photo. A Very Good copy. Title and copyright information printed below the right photo in the bottom margin. Title also printed in six different languages on the back. Copyright information: "Series 1894, by Bert Underwood." Printed text on the left side of board on front: "J. F. Jarvis, Publisher, Washington, D.C." Printed text on right side on front: "Sold only by Underwood & Underwood, New York, Liverpool, Toronto-Canada, Ottawa-Kansas." This stereocard shows a scenic view of Kroll's Garden in Berlin, Germany. Under a palatial gazebo is a group of nine singers who are famous celebrities according to the title. Kroll's Garden was a well-known beer garden. Bert Underwood (1862-1943) was an American photographer and one half of the stereocard and photography company, Underwood & Underwood, which he co-founded with his brother, Elmer Underwood (1859-1947), in 1881. Underwood & Underwood specialized in distributing and producing photographic materials and was among the most prolific distributors and producers of its kind. By 1910. Underwood & Underwood began to focus more on news photography and captured some of the earliest aerial photos. In 1920, the company stopped producing stereocards and sold its stereographic materials and rights to the Keystone View Company. Underwood & Underwood enjoyed many more years as a photograph distributor until the 1940s.. Photographic Image. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
