This program accompanies the opening of an exhibition featuring Lawton Kennedy's work in the printing industry and a reception on November 8, 1959 from 3 to 5 p. m. that honors Kennedy at the University of San Francisco's Gleeson Library. The schedule of events is brief and lists the following: "Chairman: Albert Shumate, M.D.," "Remarks: David Magee, President of the Book Club of California," and "Music: Capella Di Musica." A caption also notes how the exhibition was installed under the direction of Albert Sperisen. Lawton Kennedy (1900-1980) was a prominent figure in the printing industry. He worked for several acclaimed Bay Area printers including John Henry Nash, Johnck & Seeger, Jane Grabhorn's Colt Press, and Albert Sperisen's Black Vine Press.
