Original publisher's maroon cloth binding. 5" x 7 1/2." Twenty-eight black and white illustrations, complete. Fifteen additional pages of advertisements for other books in the back related to violins and other string instruments. Pages and covers are clean and intact overall. Binding is tight. There is dampstaining in the back but it only affects the back endpaper and a couple pages of ads. Offsetting on back cover. Spine is sunned. A few marks on the pages but they are in the margins. This book is divided into three parts. Part I is about the invention of the violin and its predecessors. Part II talks about prominent violinists and violin makers. Part III is about the anatomy of a violin. The Strad was founded in 1889 as a music magazine about violins and similar string instruments and is still published to this day.. Book.
