He worked for other cooperatives as well, including the Central Cooperative Creamery and the Workers' Mutual Savings Bank, both in Superior, Wisconsin, and was an active member of the Socialist party. He edited Tyomies magazine and the first Finnish-language Socialist newspaper in Canada, compiled a Finnish-English dictionary, and translated books from English and Swedish into Finnish.
