Original publisher's gray-green paper wrappers with black lettering printed on front cover. No lettering on spine. No date, circa 1870s (fill-in date of "187_" has been left blank on front). 7" x 10." Seven pages, complete. Pages are clean and intact overall except for faint dampstaining at top of pages near spine, light age toning, and minuscule bumping to corners. Covers are clean and intact overall but have slight darkening and soiling throughout, several small stains on front cover (text still readable), slight wear to corners, and a small closed tear on fore-edge of front cover. A Good copy. This is a legal document relating to the appellate court case, Juan Toro vs. The City of Los Angeles, in which Toro was the plaintiff and the City was the defendant. The author is Toro's attorney, H. Allen. This document is a list of arguments in favor of Toro's complaint against the City of Los Angeles. According to the opening paragraph, the City of Los Angeles breached the contract with Toro in that it failed to fully compensate Toro for his services in procuring documentary proofs for a legal case involving an individual named "[redacted first name] Baldwin." Allen writes that while the City paid Toro $250, it failed to pay him the remaining $750. This document was published following an appeal from the 17th District Court.. Book. Book Condition: Good.
