Original publisher's brochure printed in red-brown ink on light beige paper. No date, circa 1896. 3 1/4" x 5 1/2." One leaf of paper folded in half vertically and printed on all panels. One illustration on back panel. One of the interior panels features a beautiful illustration of the "Saxenhurst" coat of arms with gilt lettering and gilt decorations. Brochure is very clean and intact except for light browning, a few wrinkles, and slightly bumped corners. A Very Good copy. This is a promotional brochure advertising Saxenhurst: A Story of the Old World and New (1896) by Daniel C. Eddy. This is a story set during the time of the American colonies. An excerpt taken from the advertised book is printed on the other interior panel. The excerpt introduces readers to a couple, Donald and Beatrice, in the story. In the excerpt, Donald asks Beatrice if she loves him enough to follow him to the colonies, and she agrees. Daniel C. Eddy (1823-1896) was an American Baptist clergyman, author, hymn writer, and politician. In 1855, he served as the Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.. Ephemera.
