Original color print of the Palace of Agriculture at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri. 15 1/2" x 9 1/4." Printed lettering at bottom: "Suppl to The San Francisco Sunday Call; Size, 500 x 1600 Feet; Palace of Agriculture; Cost, $550,000.00; [copyright information]. Print is very clean and intact but has light age toning or darkening on front, a small closed tear on left edge affecting a tiny portion of the printed area, and a few faint stray marks. A Very Good copy. Beautiful color illustration of the monumental Palace of Agriculture at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. The illustration shows the building from the outside and the immediate surrounding area with a few people walking in the front. This building was the largest on the fairgrounds and covered twenty-three acres. It was designed by architect E. L. Masqueray and constructed by Caldwell & Drake. The Palace of Agriculture featured agricultural industries and products from the United States and abroad. In total, there were products from fifteen countries and forty-two states. Perhaps among the most memorable exhibits in the Palace of Agriculture were sculptures made out of food products such as butter, corn, salt, cereal, almonds, and cotton.. Print.
