Original letter typed in black ink on beige paper. Signed, "Simeon E. Baldwin," in black ink. Letter on governor's stationery with the Connecticut State Seal and "State of Connecticut, Executive Chambers, Hartford" printed at top. There are three printed names at the top, Simeon E. Baldwin, Edwin S. Thomas, and Frank D. Rood. Baldwin's name is circled. Datelined December 11, 1912 in Hartford, Connecticut. 8 1/2" x 11." One page. Brief inscriptions in pencil and pen on letter which may be holograph notations. Letter is very clean and intact except for a few horizontal and vertical fold lines (perhaps original), light age toning, and a few wrinkles. A Very Good copy. Simeon E. Baldwin (1840-1927) was an American politician, lawyer, law professor, and the 65th Governor of Connecticut. In this letter, Baldwin writes to Comptroller Thomas D. Bradstreet about financial matters. Baldwin discusses "returns from seven institutions" and asks Bradstreet for clarification on "what these other reports are" as well as what the weekly cost per capita is "as shown by these returns in the case of each institution other than the seven ....".
