Rationing (1944) is a comedy about two adversaries, a meat butcher named Ben Barton (Wallace Beery) and a postmistress named Iris Tuttle (played by Marjorie Main) who is in charge of giving out ration stamps during World War II. Ben tries to get gas coupons from Iris, but she refuses. The movie centers upon their conflict and the different ways they try to sabotage one another. Amid all this, Ben's son, Lance, and Iris's daughter, Dorothy are in love with each other and wish to marry. Description on back: "Fur-Lough....Sure enough and in the flesh, Dorothy's man comes marching home for a few hours or a few days - at the moment it doesn't seem to matter much. The lucky lad is Tommy Batten who shares the romantic interest with Dorothy in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's topical comedy, 'Rationing,' which stars Wallace Beery. Both are Hollywood High school finds. Dorothy's previous films include 'The Human Comedy' and 'Cry "Havoc"' in which the brown-haired actress enacted the dramatic role of a shell-shocked nurse on Bataan.". Photographic Image.
