A Very Good copy. A Christian tract containing a reprinted letter by Peter Bayssiere, a French mechanic, to his children. The original letter was datelined December 31, 1826 in Montaigut, France. This reprint is translated into English from the original French. In his letter, Bayssiere describes his conversion from being a Roman Catholic to a Protestant after becoming disillusioned with the central tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Bayssiere had studied the New Testament three times and used his reasoning to conclude that the Catholic concepts of Purgatory, non-representational Eucharist, and the papacy were false. Bayssiere leaves the Roman Catholic Church but finds his faith again when he concludes that Protestantism is the true Christianity. Toward the end of the letter, he describes how a discussion with his wife (his children's mother) furthered his Protestant faith and that he became a member of the Reformed Church of Christ. Tract No. 251 of the American Tract Society. The American Tract Society (ATS) is an evangelical organization that was founded in 1825 as the result of a merger between the New York Religious Tract Society (founded in 1812) and the New England Religious Tract Society (founded in 1814). ATS is still active to this day and has since had its publications printed in over 100 languages in seventy different countries.. Book. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
