No owner inscrptn and minus issued dw/dj.Bright, crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,publisher's original lair-force blue cloth boards with bright,crisp, blocked black ink printed lettering to spine/ backstrip which is sunned/faded,and with some minimal and light,sporadic foxing/spotting to both the plain white,front+rear pastedowns and both he free endpapers too; with negligible shelf-wear to edges and the ubiquitous bumping and minimal rubbing to all corners,but no nicks,tears,splits or any other fraying present. Front board with a faded narrow border at its top+bottom edges and also to spine's gutter's crease - due to proximity of a slightly smaller book's presence - as stored on a shelf.Rear board with sunning/fading just to the spine's gutter's crease too,again,due to presence of a less wide and smaller book,when stored on shelf - rest of cover unaffected.Top edges minimally dust-soiled and with lightest of any ageing - no blemishes,fore-edges with slight hint of ageing - very considerably much less than is usual/ normal or encountered - so bright and clean,also with no foxing/spotting or blemishes; contents bright,tight,remarkably clean,solid and sound - text body clean and no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners,would appear unread - apart from my own collation.UK,slim 8vo HB minus dw/dj,3rd rpt,v-ixpp+11-190pp [paginated] includes separate contents+illus lists/tables, XXI (21) chapters,profuse (61) part -page,b/w line illustrations by E. A highly collected and prolific children's book author/illustrator,and an unusual item/ephemera in Blyton's bold style and will be an important and welcome addition to the canon.Wartime issues/editions are notoriously and particularly scarce and as such,are highly sought after. As an extremely scarce UK,1st edn,this is the earliest reprint edn noted or listed elsewhere and equally as such,an important and welcome addition to the Enid Blyton adventure story canon for all Blyton collectors/officianados. Uncommon example with a dw/dj in a book of its age and given the period of production,i.e. 1942-1947 - with wartime paper-rationing,and the poor quality of paper generally used and survival rates of air-raids on domestic and commercial properties i.e publishers+printers. Any dw/dj would have been of substandard quality and prone to subsequent disintegration and usually discarded,or be reverse printed - possibly coming from an entirely different book/title.
