The Board consisted of notable Cape authorities: Egidius Benedictus Watermeyer (21 August 1824 - 21 September 1867); Sir Langham Dale (1826-1898); A.N.E. Changuion; (1803-1881); Edward Judge (1801- 1875); Sir Thomas Maclear (17 March 1794 – 14 July 1879); James Rose Innes (1824-1908) and George F. Childe. The document is contained in its original black japanned metal tube, l;ettered in gold. The container is lightly worn (as to be expected); the certificate is in pristine condition.
