BOURNE, Hermon : FLORES POETICI. THE FLORIST'S MANUAL: Designed As An Introductoin to V

BOURNE, Hermon. FLORES POETICI. THE FLORIST'S MANUAL: Designed as an Introduction to Vegetable Physiology and Systematic Botany, for Cultivators of Flowers, with more than Eighty Beautifully Coloured Engravings of Poetic Flowers. Boston & New York: Munroe and Francis & Charles S. Francis, 1833. viii, [9]-288 pp. 73 hand-colored engravings. Rebound in green cloth. There is a contemporary ink signature on title page and a fair amount of foxing and spotting to the text. It is curious that despite the title statement of more than eighty plates, the consistent compliment is 73. The index misleads as well, with reference to 124 plants. Many in the same class are represented by a single general illustration. A rare early American botanical in acceptable condition., Acceptable
