Original letter hand written in blue ink on white paper. Letter on stationery with the following printed header: "Slater Brown, 12 Wharf Road, Rockport, Mass." Signed, "Slater Brown," in blue ink. No date, circa 1963. 6" x 7." Pencil inscription at top which may or may not be by Slater Brown. Letter is virtually pristine and intact except for a few staple holes in upper-right corner not affecting text, a horizontal fold line at center (perhaps original), and minuscule age toning. A Near Fine copy. William Slater Brown (1896-1997) was an American author. He wrote under the name, "Slater Brown." He wrote novels and biographies and also translated French literature. In this letter, Brown writes to Mr. Hills about two of his books, one of which will be published soon. The letter reads, "Dear Mr. Hills, When all of us 'Exiles' were photographed I think you asked me the title of book which is to appear June 24. It is 'World of the Desert' - a sort of companion volume to my 'World of the Wind,' which Bobbs-Merrill published two years ago. Cordially, Slater Brown.". Manuscript.
