The title page has been warmly inscribed by the author thus: "For the best mine manager of a fine mine. Thank you for your help. Meanwhile till we meet again good luck in your search for gold. Peter". A separate signature by the author is just below the inscription. The book itself is very shelf-rubbed, marked, and worn. The edges of the boards are torn and frayed. The gold gilt of the author's name on the spine has faded and is only half legible. The dust jacket, too, is very shelf-rubbed, with multiple chips, creases, and tears along the edges. A chip out of the top of the spine obscures the author's name. There are some scars and holes in the cover of the jacket as well. Despite its appearance, the jacket remains together and for the most part whole. Internally, there is a scar on the front end page and the top corners of the pages are creased. Apart from this, there are no other markings aside from the author's inscription and the pages are complete. On the whole, it is still securely bound and well preserved in cellophane..
