circa.1900s. Two original mounted photographs (2 1/2 x 4 1/4 photographs mounted on brown cardstock 4 1/4 x 6 1/2 inch). One photograph shows Henry Camper in a studio pose and the second shows Eliza Camper, also in a studio pose. Henry Wax Camper (1830-1922) and his wife Eliza Sevilla [Garrison] Camper (1836-1916) were early California pioneers. Henry was born in Virginia and came to California in 1850. The memoir that he dictated to his daughter "Why I Crossed the Plains" was published by the Butte County Historical Society (DIGGINS, Fall 1982). He settled in Yuba County where he worked as a teamster. Henry and Eliza were married in 1856. They later moved to Chico, California where Camper built wagons and carriages. Fine clean copies. Included also is a copy of a photo of the two of them reading in their parlor in front of a stove.. Book. Book Condition: Collectible-Fine. Binding: No Binding
