Wrappers and spine sunned; disintegration to spine extremities; penned codes to upper wrapper; some marginal tears; regular light browning throughout, as usual; tail of final two leaves torn, with possible slight loss of text to page 147; occasional marginal highlighting; pen notation to final page. Fair condition. The reports are divided into seven sections, the first dealing with the Cape Colony exclusive of Bechuanaland and the Transkeian Territories, the second with British Bechuanaland, the third with the Transkeian Territories, including Griqualand East, the fourth with Kimberley, Ndabeni Location and New Brighton Location, Port Elizabeth, the fifth with Native Local Self-Government, the sixth with Statistics. Very importantly, the seventh section includes a detailed 34-page List of Government Headmen employed in the Colony Proper, British Bechuanaland and the Transkeian Territories. Additional matters covered include recovery of hut tax, treatment of stock disease, labour supply, liquor regulations, and the general behaviour and health of the native population.
