Collection of two black-and-white photographs mounted on beige matboard. One photo shows a Victorian-style house under construction. The other photo is a group portrait showing five members of the Wood family. The photo of the house is mounted on beige matbord with gray decorative border printed on front. The family photo is mounted on beige matboard with gilt edging. No dates, circa 1908 (house photo has a caption with the year, 1908). House photo: 6 1/2" x 4 1/4" on 9" x 7" board. Family photo: 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" on 7 3/4" x 10" board. Photos are very clean and intact except for light rubbing, several faint scratch marks on front, and a few light smudges. Boards are clean and intact overall but have browning, a few small chips to corners and edges, a small closed tear on gray board, and some surface marks and scratches. Each photo and the entire collection are Very Good. A collection of two photos relating to the Wood family. Both matboards have handwritten ink captions on back that describe the subject of the photos. The photo of the house shows a Victorian-style house under construction in Nelson, Nebraska with three people visible in the frame. Annotations on the front of this photo's matboard identifies these people. The man on the roof of the house is "Bert Kinney," the man on the porch is "Grandpa Wood," and the man standing in the rightmost window is "Jesse Wood." The caption on the back of this photo's matboard reads, "Home we built in Nelson, 1908." The family photo shows five sitters wearing formal attire in what looks like a formal studio background or domestic interior. Two men stand in the back row while two women and a man are seated in the front row. The sitters are identified by handwritten text on back, part of which reads, "Grandpa Wood & brothers & sisters." There are five names next to this part of the text, which are "[--?] Wood" [one of the men], "Winfield Wood," "Gregory Wood," "Louisa Wood," and "Alma Wood." It is unclear which of the names is that of "Grandpa Wood," and the names are not matched to the sitters on front.. Photographic Image. Book Condition: Very Good.
