Pages are clean and intact overall except for a few wrinkles, slight rippling, occasional offsetting, light to moderate foxing and staining throughout (text still readable), and minuscule chipping along spine (text is unaffected). A Very Good copy. A Christian tract containing a brief biography about Joseph Archer (1797-1827), a sailor from Salem, Massachusetts who turns his life around after converting to Christianity. The biography describes Archer as initially living a life of iniquity and freely partaking in swearing and drunkenness. After reading a tract from a preacher, Archer becomes a repentant Christian. He then devotes the rest of his life to furthering his faith and Christian learning and teaching his fellow sailors about the Christian faith. Tract No. 246 of the American Tract Society. Although there is no stated author of this tract, Mary H. Cornelius is the attributed author according to the March 1831 issue of the American Tract Magazine. The American Tract Society (ATS) is an evangelical organization that was founded in 1825 as the result of a merger between the New York Religious Tract Society (founded in 1812) and the New England Religious Tract Society (founded in 1814). Upon its founding, ATS became the first organization in the United States whose express mission was to hand out Christian tracts. ATS is still active to this day and has since had its publications printed in over 100 languages in seventy different countries.. Book. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
