Circa early 1800s. 16 x 10 inch map on 17 1/2 x 12 paper. Multiple fold lines, small tears on folds not affecting map. Some ink transfer due to being folded. Jean Baptiste d'Anville (1697-1782) was a geographer and cartographer who greatly improved the standards of map-making. He was known for his meticulous research. This map was originally drawn for Charles Rollin's "Ancient History". The map covers most of the Middle East from present day Turkey and the Black Sea in the west to the Indus River in the east. This particular map is Plate V in an English translation of "Ancient History", sculpted by E. Boiven.. Book. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Binding: No Binding
