Jean Baptiste d'Anville (1697-1782) was a geographer and cartographer who greatly improved the standards of map-making. He was known for his meticulous research. This map was originally drawn for Charles Rollin's "Ancient History". It covers North Africa, a portion of Spain, Sardinia and Sicily. It also includes an inset map that enlarges the portion of present day Tunisia that includes Carthage. This particular map is Plate III from an English translation of "Ancient History".. Book.
