Volume One: The cover is rubbed, scuffed and marked and lightly worn about the edges but is otherwise benign. The back cover has some shallow storage damage. The papertrims are marked from storage. Within, the book has been subjected to damp storage and there is evidence of this fore and aft. The pastedowns and initial and final pages have tide-marks and some wrinkling. The text is unaffected. The pages are secure and clear and confident. Volume II (ISBN: 062400368X). The Editor in Chief changed from this volume to D W Kruger. This volume has not been subjected as much by damp storage. The effects are similar but less pronounced. The covers are scuffed and marked and very lightly worn. The papertrims are marked from shelving and storage. Within, the contents are clear and benign, competent and confident. Volume III (ISBN: 0624008487). The Chief Editor changed with this volume to C J Beyers. As with Volume II the damp storage has not affected this volume as much. The pages do have some tidemarks and wrinkling. The contents have evidence of use - as do the other volumes - throughout. The pages are benign, competent and certain. The papertrims are marked from storage and shelving. Volume IV (ISBN: 0409091847). By far the neatest of the set. The cover is confident despite the scuffing and marks. The binding is youthful. Within, the damp marks are light and the wrinkling is light. The pages are clear, diligent, assured and agreeable.
