Defoe, Daniel ; Campe, Joachim : The New Robinson Crusoe ; an Instructive and Entertaining History for the Use of Children

Oliver & Boyd, Edinburgh, 1819

180 pages (complete). An unusual edition of Robinson Crusoe, published 100 years after its first publication. This is a translation from the German of Joachim Campe's re-writing of the famous story for children (as: "Robinson der J?ngerer"). A much worn copy. The spine has been repaired with a leather strip. The boards are much worn, scuffed and marked all about. They are hardy and resolute. They are also comfortable in the hand. The contents are much worn. The frontispage is missing. The pages are aged, marked by the years and by hand. Yet, they are benign, placid, clear. Five woodcut illustrations - one of which is handcoloured (pg. 123). This is a competent, easy to read, easy to own copy. fk. Book Condition: Fair. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket
