Gilt lettering on top cover and spine; plates throughout, including dual frontispiece plates with tissue overlays. Deckled four-edge and bottom edge, gilt top edge, 149 numbered pages. Condition of binding: Expected age wear, slight darkening of cloth and minor shelf wear. Rubbings/minor wear, mostly at joints. First hinge has narrow crack. Former owner's name/date (1960) on free endpaper facing half title. Upper left corner of first frontispiece (photo of author) has piece missing. Both frontispieces have tissue overlays intact. Scattered foxing/old humidity stains throughout. Edges age darken. Else Very Good. Uncommon to see this significant book in Very Good condition. Not a former library book. Free of writing, underlines, etc. in the text; and free of bookplates, stickers, and page tears. A wonderful, sentimental, loving remembrance of the author's father, the famous Charles Dickens (the family's Christmas dinners, her father at work and his love for child characters, his writing hours, his fondness for athletic sports, he and his dogs, his decision to visit America, etc.).
