736 pages (complete). A much owned and most inconsiderately stored book. A diligently and thoroughly researched and enthusiastically written book of the early days of South African rugby. Generously illustrated with photographs of posed, beefy club players and of early games. The spine has been repaired with a leather strip. At some stage the book has been subjected to damp conditions. The bottoms edges of the contents are thereby affected and stained. The text and photographs are unaffected. The boards are much worn and scuffed. The edges are worn, the faces are marked and worn. They are nonetheless resolute and sure. Within, the title page has an open tear to the top edge.
