Distribution of Slaves, Sumter County - Jan.30,1849 : Document from Estate of Robert Pryor, A Georgian Slave-Holder

Document dated January 30,1849. Allocates the Estate of Robert Pryor to his brother, Spencer Pryor, and to three offspring of Robert Pryor. The distribution consisted of: first-name only Negro slaves and their offspring plus mules, horses, and an equal distribution of cash realized from the sale of Robert Pryor's land. Interestingly, Robert Pryor gave his daughter (of minor age) a share equal to that given her 2 brothers (both also minors). Robert Pryor was an early settler in Georgia's Sumter County; his descendants have held a reunion annually in the county for nearly 120 years. Document size - 8" x 12.5". In excellent condition..
