Handwritten by Petty Officer 3rd Class Carl Holbrook from Taff in northern Alabama he shares his war experiences from his entry into the Navy in 1942, until his tour ends in 1945 allowing his readers to follow this sailor from Taff [no longer a town) on his service whether they involved his escapades, complaints, illness or responses to letters from home while on board the U.S.S.
