A two-page introduction ('The Author to the Producer, October 1921') and Jürgen Fehlings' essay, 'Note on the Production of Masses and Man', bookend Toller's play, penned during his imprisonment at Niederschönenfeld following his involvement in the establishment of the short-lived Bavarian Soviet Republic..
