FORREST CARTER : Gone to Texas. A novel

Weidenfeld & Nicolson, London, 1975

The first UK edition (first printing), originally issued in the US several years earlier under the title 'The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales'. 8vo. 206pp. Brown boards lettered in gold at the spine. Top edge lightly spotted, and with a strip of toning to the half-title, seemingly offset from a makeshift bookmark, which is also just about discernable to the adjacent title page. A very good copy in very good non-price-clipped dust wrapper, lightly rubbed at several extremities and with a little internal spotting. A lovely copy of this uncommon western classic, memorably filmed by Clint Eastwood as 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' (Eastwood contributes a glowing review to the rear panel of the dust wrapper). The author, Forrest Carter, was later revealed to be the white supremacist and KKK leader Asa Earl Carter, which puts a bit of a dampener on the whole affair.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Very Good
