The letter, to an unnamed correspondent, thanks him for accepting his invitation to Franlin's wedding supper, giving information as to who else will be attending and outlining some arrangements for the day. The letter is mounted at the corners on a thin album card leaf. It is split vertically along one of the folds, and partly along another horizontal and a vertical fold. There is no loss of text, and the letter could very easily be archivally restored. Sir John Franklin KCH FRGS RN (16 April 1786 – 11 June 1847) was the celebrated polar explorer who perished in pursuit of the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic.
