Collection of two documents that have the same poem, "Baby Nell." The poem appears as a handwritten copy and a typed copy. Handwritten copy datelined July 12, 1893 in Auburn (no state is denoated). Typed copy dated April 9, 1914. Handwritten copy: 5 1/4" x 6 1/2." Typed copy: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2." Each copy of the poem is very clean and intact except for several horizontal and vertical fold lines, slight wrinkling, and light age toning. Each copy is Very Good. A charming poem dedicated to "Baby Nell," also known as "Nellie B," who was born on June 13, 1893. The poem was authored by Mary E. Gardiner. It is unclear if this poem was ever published, but it is likely that it was not as there is no documentation online of it being so. The poem reads, in part, "A dainty little cherub, / Sent with us on earth to dwell, / And cheer us with her presence, / Is our precious 'Baby Nell.' / She's come our hearts to gladden, / How we love her none can tell / Most tenderly we'll guard her, / Winsome little 'Baby Nell.'".
