Pages are very clean and intact overall but have light age toning throughout and a few spots of faint dampstaining. Text is still readable. Covers are clean and intact overall but have slight rubbing, light to moderate wear to extremities, and worn outer joints. Outer joints are cracked but holding. A Very Good copy. A comprehensive dictionary of Indian names, phrases, and terminology found in ancient Sanskrit literature such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Vishnu Purana. Numerous texts were consulted for the purposes of compiling this dictionary which are listed in the front. As noted in the Preface, John Garrett's intention was to have this dictionary readily available for students or readers of Sanskrit literature who are unfamiliar with the language and its structure. John Garrett (?-?) was a Wesleyan missionary and linguist who served at the Wesleyan Canarese Mission in Bangalore.
