On offer is an interesting, original manuscript relic of Alabama Reconstruction Era politics and post Civil War thought being a six [6] legal sized page manuscript on the evils of Reconstruction, apparently handwritten in Montgomery Alabama and likely by future Alabama Governor Thomas Jones who quotes or copies by hand articles from papers with commentary. [While the papers are unsigned and we cannot guarantee they are in his hand the likely hood given the dates mentioned and the source being the estate of his son, Judge Walter B. Jones of Montgomery we are quite confident of the assertion of authorship.] He was an officer in the Confederate Army and had also published a very rare pamphlet on the Last Days of the Army of Northern Virginia. Many entries relate to quotes from Montgomery Alabama newspapers of the time; a war-date quote of April 4, 1862 regarding the "semi-barbarous element in the Federal Army"; mention of a "Negro lynching" in Arkansas; bemoans CSA officers, including an Alabamian named Battle) who "defected" to the radical reconstruction party; comment regarding Alabama's reconstruction governor Parsons, etc. Overall G+..
