Original hand-drawn comic strip art by Dale Hale for the comic strip, Figments. Signed by Dale Hale in black ink. Unsigned inscription (possibly by Hale) that says, "Happy Birthday and many more!" Original black ink on white paper with screentone sheets for texture and shading and white pigment for corrections and editing. Original sticker on the first panel says, "1972, The Register and Tribune Syndicate." March 9, 1972. 23" x 7 1/4." Art is very clean and intact with minimal age wear. Some glue residue at the top where printed labels with the title of the comic and artist's name may have been. A few spots of discoloration. Dale Hale (b. 1933) is an American cartoonist who drew and wrote the Figments comic strip. Hale's resume also includes being an assistant to Charles M. Schulz, ghost-writing and drawing Flintstones and Yogi Bear comics, and working on TV animated shows such as Ghostbusters, Ducktales, and Tiny Toon Adventures. Figments is about children and how they view the adult world. Based on Hale's official website, it appears that the family portrayed in the comics is inspired from his own. This particular comic shows two brothers named Kit and Kevin, who are based off of Hale's own sons with the same names. This is a two-panel comic strip. Panel One: Kit and Kevin ride in an elevator with a man who sends a large cloud of smoke into the air from his cigar. Kit and Kevin are overwhelmed with the smoke as they are shown in anguish. Kevin looks up at a fire extinguisher above his head on the wall. Panel Two: This panel is thought bubble from Kevin. An onomatopoeic word, "Kswoosh!," is shown as Kevin imagines himself using the fire extinguisher to blast the man in the face.. Comic. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
