Lightly impressed border decorations on front and back. Vol. I, Part I (Plates): 10" x 11 1/4"; 113 pages (113 full-page, black-and-white plates), complete. Vol. V, Part II (Text): 9 1/2" x 11 1/4"; 492 pages, complete. Plates come with original tissue guards that have text describing the plates and any constituent Figures. Both volumes are internally Fine with only age toning to pages and light offsetting in Vol. V, Part II from the plates. Covers and spine of Vol. V, Part I are Very Good; they are faded to a dark brown with spots of light brown on front and back. Covers and spine of Vol. V, Part II are Near Fine with a small split to tail of Vol. V, Part II. Both volumes have slight wear to corners, edges, and head and tail of spine. As an overall set, Very Good. A comprehensive, two-volume set comprising the text in one volume (Vol. V, Part I) and a collection of plates in the other (Vol. V, Part II). The plates depict a diverse variety of prehistoric specimens as related to the history of New York from the taxonomic classes, Gasteropoda (Gastropoda), Pteropoda, and Cephalopoda in the Devonion strata known as the Upper Helderberg Group, the Hamilton Group, the Portage Group, and the Chemung Group..
