A single sheet, printed on one side only, measuring 21 x 16cm. In very good state, closed marginal tear right-hand margin, not affecting text, and some light creasing to head sheet in blabk middle margin.The left hand half consists of the lessons of two and three letters, and the right hand half, four five and six letters. There is an imprint at the foot of each half, indicating that this was intended to be cut and issued as separate lesson sheets. SABib records only two examples, in the Library of Parliament, and the South African Library, both in Cape Town. Hallier's name appears in the Cape of Good Hope Almanacs between 1831 and 1834 as an English teacher. An extremely scarce example of early Cape printing, of which no copy has appeared in the market place in at least the last 40 years.
