Binding is tight. A Near Fine copy. J. Frank Hanley (1863-1920), also known as Frank Hanley, was an American politician from Indiana. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Indiana State Senate and was also Indiana's 26th governor. This book contains the dedication of the Indiana Monuments in Vicksburg, Mississippi by Hanly, which originally took place on December 29, 1908. In his dedication speech, Hanly eulogizes Ulysses S. Grant and speaks poignantly about the fateful Siege of Vicksburg which greatly weakened Confederate forces during the Civil War. The Siege of Vicksburg, the final battle of the Vicksburg campaign, marked a turning point in the war and was instrumental in the Confederacy's defeat.. Book. Book Condition: Near Fine.
