Original letter handwritten and signed in blue ink on white stationery. Signed, "Doris Hare." Printed header at top reads, "Doris Hare, N. B. C., New York." No date, circa 1940s-1960s. 5 3/4" x 7." One page, complete. Letter is very clean and intact except for minuscule age toning, slightly bumped corners, and a couple of creases in upper-right corner on front. A Very Good copy. An original letter addressed to a "Mr. Brown" from Doris Hare. The letter reads, "Dear Mr. Brown, Thank you so much for your letter--I'm awfully glad you like my programme and hope you will listen to one again. I'm sending you a photograph. Hope you like it--If you would like to see my broadcast when you are in New York--I will send you tickets--Yours sincerely, Doris Hare." Doris Hare (1905-2000) was a British actress, comedian, singer, and dancer. Hare began her career at the early age of three when she made her debut appearance at her parents' portable theater in South Wales in the production, Current Cash. She went on to perform in juvenile troupes throughout Britain and continued acting into adulthood. She was a Renaissance woman of the theater and performed on Broadway, appeared in revues for the Merchant Navy, and acted in a number of television shows and films. Hare is perhaps best-known for her portrayal of Mabel Butler in the British sitcom, On the Buses, and its film adaptations.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
