Pages are very clean and intact. Slight foxing on a few of the pages. Pages are age-toned. Covers are clean and intact overall. Covers have some edge and corner wear and a couple spots of dampstaining on the front and back covers. A Very Good copy. Frederick White Haskell (1877-1978) was an art student at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1901. He went on to work as a draftsman at Dwight & Chandler, Architects in Boston and before becoming a traveling salesman in electrical advertising. This is Haskell's sketchbook from the 1897-1898 school term when he was an art student at Dartmouth College. In his sketchbook, Haskell made beautiful hand-drawn illustrations on a total of sixty-six pages. Nearly all of the drawings are done in pen and ink with a few in pencil. Among the many examples of his work are a hand-drawn title page and end page, a self-portrait following the end page, and compositions featuring geometric shapes and forms, animals, human figures, and scenery..
