Mendelssohn 1:694-5, 'An important work on the gold-mining industry of Transvaal. The work contains an elaborate description of "auriferous conglomerate of 'banket' beds on the Rand," with particulars of deposits, taken from well-known mines. There is a chapter devoted to "Deep Levels - their development and prospects," and other articles deal with "Mining practice on the Rand," "Surface Equipment," "The Metallurgical treatment of the ore," etc., etc. A large number of engravings and plates fully illustrate the text, and there are two large maps of the gold-fields of Witwatersrand'.
