His poem, in this collection for the first time, "In die Hoeveld" is the best known and loved. It is now studied in schools in South Africa. Annoyingly this copy has an injury to the right edge of the cover. There is consequent very light damage to the following pages. Otherwise, the dustjacket is benign with some wear and tanning. The cover, aside from the injury, is smart. Inside, the frontispage has a previous owner signature. The contents are annotated in pencil throughout.
