Folio. xvi, 557pp, one-eighth orange cloth and bright red cloth, and gilt title at spine, light general wear-only, overall very clean and bright, inside and out, in a clipped dust jacket, with occasional short closed tears at edges repaired on verso with archival tape, creasing at upper edges of front and rear panels, and a small damp-stain at bottom fore corner, jacket now housed in protective Brodart. The present volume, along with the volume, Vogue's First Reader, are the only publications of this essay that appeared originally in Vogue Magazine, February, 1939. It is otherwise not available. From the opening paragraph, "At the end of the summer, the big trout would be out in the centre of the stream; they were leaving the pools along the upper part of the river and dropping down to spend the winter in the deep water of the canyon.
