Original publisher's multicolored paper wrappers with a color illustration on the front cover of a man in a black-fur garment stabbing a black panther with a spear, while a woman wearing a leopard-skin dress recoils in horror. Illustration accompanies the featured novel, "Three Go Back," which is about time travel. White spine with black lettering. 6 3/4" x 9 1/4." 146 pages, complete. Black-and-white illustrations, complete. Advertisements are interspersed throughout. Pages and covers are clean and intact overall. Pages are fragile and age-toned. Some chipping at the edges and spine. Tape repair on covers and spine (one piece of tape at the bottom). Top and bottom edges of the cover appear to be cut but this may be original. A Very Good Copy. Famous Fantastic Mysteries was a science fiction and fantasy pulp magazine edited by Mary Gnaedinger. The first issue appeared in 1939. Its popularity quickly led to the publication of a companion magazine, Fantastic Novels. The last issue of Famous Fantastic Mysteries was published in 1953. The December 1943 issue. The following are in this issue: a full book-length novel, "Three Go Back," by J. Leslie Mitchell; three short stories, "The Derelict," by William Hope Hodgson, "The Mask," by Robert W. Chambers, and "King of Gray Spaces," by Ray Bradbury; and four features, "The Readers' Viewpoint," "In the Next Issue," "The Editor's Page," and "The Second Finlay Portfolio" [an ad for art by Virgil Finlay]..
