Although, an artist she is best known for this diary that records a life that would be utterly impossible in the 21st century. Half French (her father was disowned for marrying a Protestant) she was proud of England, but was in love with France. In these pages she writes of England and France, these "two unblended nations, sapping our loyalty, our constancy". This is a first edition copy of her diary kept at the most formative stage of her life. It is in fair condition. The dustjacket has a tough, clear plastic protective cover that is marked, worn. The spine of the dj has a dewey classification label. A recommendation (from Mrs Robert Henrey) label is wrapped around the cover. There is evidence of usage and readership and library ownership throughout the book. The pages are relaxed, complete, clear, approachable.
