Jenks, Tudor : Autograph Letter Signed and Signed Bookplate - Tudor Jenks

Letter handwritten in purple ink on beige paper (one page) and Tudor Jenks bookplate with his signature in purple ink. Letter is written on St. Nicholas Magazine stationery and is datelined July 13, 1900 in New York. Letter measures 5" x 8 1/8"; bookplate measures 2 1/4" x 3 3/4." The bookplate features a design by George Wharton Edwards with the Latin motto, "Audax et Cautus" ["Bold and Wary"]. The letter reads: "Dear Madam: I send you my bookplate with great pleasure. It was drawn by Geo. Wharton Edwards. Very sincerely yours, Tudor Jenks." Addressed to: "Mrs. M. E. Rath-Merrill, Columbus, Ohio." Both signatures of Tudor Jenks are clean and undamaged. The letter and bookplate are clean and intact overall. The letter has a very slight rip in the center affecting the "t" in "bookplate" and a tiny spot affecting the "G" in "Geo." A very small tear in upper-right corner of the bookplate does not affect the design or signature. Tudor Jenks (1857-1922) was an American author, editor, artist, and poet. He wrote for many publications including St. Nicholas Magazine, Art World and Arts and Decoration, Harper's Weekly, and Lippincott's Monthly Magazine.. Manuscript.
