Promotional slogans on back tout San Diego as the "Playground of America," "City of Homes," and "Distributing Point of the Great Southwest." No date, circa 1914. 4" x 9." Unpaginaged, twelve panels, complete. Black-and-white illustrations, complete. Brochure is very clean and intact except for slight age toning and darkening and a few wrinkles. A Very Good copy. A promotional brochure published on the occasion of the Panama-California Exposition at San Diego's Balboa Park. The expo was held in commemoration of the opening of the Panama Canal. While the expo was originally planned for the year 1915, it stayed open from 1915 to January 1, 1917. In 1916, the Panama-Pacific Exposition was renamed as the Panama-California International Exposition, which was timely as international exhibitors were introduced that year. The interior panels describe different aspects of San Diego such as its climate, points of interest to explore, abundant housing, and recreational opportunities. The verso of the brochure promotes the Panama-California Exposition and highlights that this is the first all-year event in history, made possible by San Diego's year-round temperate climate.. Book.
